Welcome to my website which is currently devoted to the
research of two families, namely POTTEN and GAYMER.
The POTTEN family research relates to the Pottens
of South-East England who were Norman-French in origin and who settled in the
southern counties of England from the 11th Century. Within the appropriate
pages of this site you will find details of origins of the name, migrations of
Pottens through South-East England between the 13th and 20th Centuries, the
location of Pottens in the UK and worldwide, a Potten Will index, demographic
maps, account of Christopher Nerry Potten (the artist), a Potten database from
the 16th to the 19th Century, The Sussex village of Patching, and much
more.
The GAYMER family research has been produced in
cooperation with Jennifer Gaymer who has provided considerable information and
help in establishing the Gaymer data and photos on this website. While much of
the site relates to the Gaymers who originated in Norfolk/Suffolk from the
renowned Gaymer cyder manufacturing company, information is also provided on
Gaymers who originated in other locations. Demographic maps, the church at
Banham, together with information on the origins and expansion of the Gaymer
Cyder Company is also available.
